Camping Season 2011

Greetings Kampers and welcome to the 2011 Boone KOA camping season!


Memorial Day is coming up this weekend, and we have TONS of fun-filled, family-oriented activities planned for our campers.  




Memorial Day Weekend Festivities at the
Boone KOA
Friday, May 27th                                                                                      
Bluegrass Jam Session 7:00-9:00pm
Meet in the Rec Room to hear local musicians play traditional tunes. Sit back and enjoy the music or bring your instrument and play along!
                                                                      
Saturday, May 28th
Scavenger Hunt 9:30am
Meet Lindsay in front of the KOA office to receive your list of clues! First person to gather all of the hidden objects around the campground wins a prize! Fun for all ages.

Arts & Crafts 11:00am
Meet Lindsay in the Rec Room for arts & crafts hour to make campfire crowns, fun headwear made of felt, twigs, and marshmallows! Get creative!


Hike 2:00pm
Join the KOA staff in front of the office for a hike around the local area. Tennis shoes are required and terrain is moderate. Hike takes about 1.5 hours.
 
Ice Cream Social 3:30pm
A tradition at the Boone KOA, the Ice Cream Social
is a place to meet your KOA staff and fellow campers while enjoying delicious treats. Choose from chocolate or vanilla ice cream and an assortment of toppings!

Sugar Sniffin’ Flashlight Candy Hunt and Marshmallow Social ~9:00pm (around dark)
Meet around the fire pit in front of the KOA office for further instructions to this top secret game! After the hunt, join the KOA staffers back around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and enjoy the camp fire. (weather permitting)

Sunday, May 29th
Pancake Breakfast 8:00-10:00am
Rise and shine with pancakes with butter & syrup and refreshments! All proceeds go to KOA Care Camps, a summer camp program for children affected by cancer. Donations are not required, but are graciously accepted.

Live Music 7:00-9:00pm
Local band Linville Creek will be performing on the lawn in front of the KOA office.  Playing mostly traditional tunes, Linville Creek is a favorite here at the Boone KOA. Come out and enjoy the music! (In case of rain, the music will be held in the Rec Room.)

Boone KOA opened in 1973. We have a beatuiful peaceful campground at almost 4000 ft. in elevation. Come stay with us and enjoy cool summer breezes (avg. summer temp. 73). This makes for great evenings to enjoy your campfire with your family-roast a few hotdogs or marshmallows - make smores - or just enjoy watching the flickering flames of your fire. You might even hear someone strumming a guitar or maybe that will be you. There are some wonderful views for your to enjoy if you are out strolling around the campground. There is so much to see and do in the area. You can enjoy a challenging hike or a laid back car ride down by the river (also a gret place to ride your bicycle).
