July 4th Events

Greetings Kampers!  Summer is here and July 4th is coming soon.  Here are some events we have planned for the holiday weekend (July 2-4):

Friday, July 2nd

7:00-9:00pm Bluegrass Jam Session
Meet in the Rec Room to hear area musicians come together and play.  Bring your own instrument and play along, or just sit and enjoy!

Saturday, July 3rd

8:00 - 10:00am Kampkake Breakfast
Join KOA Chefs Garry and Tom in the Rec Room for pancakes and syrup!  Blueberries and Chocolate Chips are available upon request.
Donations are not required, but are graciously accepted.  All contributions will be given to KOA Care Camps, a summer camp program for children with cancer.

11:00am Arts and Crafts
After your pancakes, join KOA staffer Lindsay in the Rec Room to make patriotic Uncle Sam hats in honor of Independence Day.  She will also have Word Searches and puzzles.  Fun for all ages, but adult supervision is recommended.

2:00pm Nature Hike
Once again, KOA staffer Russell will be leading a mid-afternoon hike through the local area, complete with scenic views and an old homestead along the way.  Hike will last about 1.5 hours, and terrain is moderate with a steep section at the end of the hike.  Bring water, and tennis shoes or hiking boots are required.

4:00pm Ice Cream Social
Meet in the Kampstore for a free afternoon treat of chocolate or vanilla ice cream.  M&Ms, Gummy Bears, and lots of chocolate syrup are also available.  Yummy!

7:00pm Live Music
Local musicians Edward and Friends of RAM's Rack (Resort Area Ministeries) will perform on the lawn in front of the KOA building.  Bring a chair and enjoy free popcorn and music

Sunday, July 4th

9:00am Worship Service
Dr. Kevin Johnson will be holding a worship service from 9:00-9:30.

7:00 - 9:00pm Live Music
Local band and KOA favorite Leftover Bluegrass will be playing for us here at the campground yet again!  Join us out on the lawn, if the weather is nice, or back in the Rec Room if it is raining.

Lindsay's Uncle Sam hats we're making during Arts & Crafts!

June Update...

June is here, and SUMMER is just around the corner.  And what better way to celebrate than to come camping at the KOA?

Not only is the weather here beautiful during these early summer months, but the local area offers LOTS of fun activities and events for the whole family.

From June 4-13, Thomas the Tank Engine will be at Tweetsie Railroad - Take a ride on the Thomas train, and be sure to bring your Engineer's hat!  Check out Tweetsie Railroad's site for more info

Summer in Boone also means the beginning of the Horn in the West season.  This famous Revolutionary War era outdoor drama began in 1952 and stars around 50 cast members.
This is a must see during your stay here at the KOA.  We also now have discounted tickets for both children ($7) and adults ($11).
The 2010 season runs from June 18th to August 14th.
Check out the Horn in the West website for more info.  Also, see their Wikipedia site.

Pepper AssortmentJune is National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month, and the best local fruits and veggies can be found at the Boone Farmer's Market!  Started in 1974, the Boone Farmer's Market offers everything from fruits and veggies to locally made cheeses to gardening plants, and more!  Saturday mornings to noon, or Wednesdays 3pm to 6:30pm, Rain or Shine.  Conveniently located only 5 miles from Boone KOA.

June 19th -20th is Father's Day Weekend, and here at the KOA we're offering Dads a free round of mini-golf, just for being so great.  So pack up the RV or tent, head this way, and show Dad just how much you care!  :-)

June is also National Great Outdoors Month, and some ways we've decided to celebrate is by sprucing up our garden and flower beds, adding more swings to our playground, and offering more outdoors activities for kids.  Why not do a scavenger hunt instead of watching TV?  (The KOA staff always has scavenger hunts readily available for any eager hunters that come along.)

June 12th is National Get Outdoors DAY 2010.  In celebration of this nationwide event, a KOA staffer will be leading a hike through the local area to encourage healthy, outdoor fun!  This annual event is new to the scene and is a great way to promote an active lifestyle!  Check out the National GO Day website for more info.

And now, some June quotes to wrap things up:

And what is so rare as a day in June? Then, if ever, come perfect days. - James Russell Lowell

Spring being a tough act to follow, God created June. - Al Berstein

It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes,
  And pleasant scents the noses.
                                              - Nathaniel Parker Willis

Memorial Day Success!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to see us on Memorial Day Weekend.

All of our activities went very well, and we were able to raise over $230 at our Cookout for KOA Care Camps!!  A special thanks to Leftover Bluegrass for playing music for us on Sunday night, and to our guest clogging campers Hannah and Sarah for showing us their skills.  You guys were awesome!

About Us

My photo
Boone KOA opened in 1973. We have a beatuiful peaceful campground at almost 4000 ft. in elevation. Come stay with us and enjoy cool summer breezes (avg. summer temp. 73). This makes for great evenings to enjoy your campfire with your family-roast a few hotdogs or marshmallows - make smores - or just enjoy watching the flickering flames of your fire. You might even hear someone strumming a guitar or maybe that will be you. There are some wonderful views for your to enjoy if you are out strolling around the campground. There is so much to see and do in the area. You can enjoy a challenging hike or a laid back car ride down by the river (also a gret place to ride your bicycle). Check out our website at www.boonekoa.com for tons of ideas on things to do in the Boone area. We would love to visit with you this summer. we appreciate our guests and always enjoy seeing our friends return. We want to help you have the best camping experience possible.
